Advanced technologies for textile and fashion industry

Duration

8 weeks

About the course

This new course introduces the bridge between Novel Textile Technologies and Fashion Industry, to adjust to the new reality. The course combines two competitive advantages of European textile and clothing industry. Its excellence in research and development of new textile products with advanced properties and its leadership in global fashion market. Novel technologies bring new opportunities for new production lines, highly specialised. The clothing industry, using smart textiles, has started to produce wearables, i.e. garments with microelectronic devices with multiple applications in measuring, monitoring and controlling body physical properties. While these technologies found a relevant field of application in medical and hygiene sector, more and more, they expand in new applications, i.e. sports and fitness garments, casual clothing, baby-wear, footwear, applications in which fashion constitutes an important element. New textile technologies present a competitive advantage for European clothing industry, opening up new exploitation opportunities.

What I will learn

The course is focused on advanced textile and fashion technologies. You will have possibility to learn about new textile materials, their structures, properties and manufacturing technologies; nanomaterials, classification and fields of their application; smart textiles, i.e. the main definition, classification, wearable electronics, various sensors, heating and conductive textiles, etc.; digital fashion design, colours, textures, shapes and proportions, creative process and fashion education. Sustainability in design and production, logistics and distribution and how it affects clothing and fashion industry will be presented, too.
