Refashionized Online Course – Fashion Evolution towards Sustainability
This interactive online course is designed for learners aged 16 and above, offering an engaging and accessible journey through the history of fashion and its far-reaching influence on our world. Tailored to meet the needs of young learners, students, and aspiring professionals, the course provides a comprehensive understanding of how fashion has evolved and how it continues to shape—and be shaped by—society, culture, human rights, the economy, and the environment.
Participants will explore the key eras of fashion history, uncovering how trends reflect and influence social movements, cultural shifts, and technological advancements. The course also addresses the darker side of the fashion industry, examining its impact on labor rights, gender equity, environmental degradation, and global inequality. By connecting past and present, learners are encouraged to think critically about the role they play as consumers and potential change-makers.
Through activities, quizzes, success stories, case studies and additional resources, the course promotes active learning and reflection. Requirements
No prior knowledge of fashion, design, or sustainability is required to take this course. Learners should have basic digital skills, an interest in fashion and social issues, and a willingness to reflect, explore, and engage with new ideas. The course is ideal for secondary school students, youth in non-formal education, and anyone with a curiosity about how fashion intersects with global challenges and opportunities. The course is available in English, German, Spanish, Italian, and Greek.

Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V. (JKPeV) is a Dresden-based NGO founded in 2004, dedicated to education, culture, and art. As the lead developer of the Refashionized online course, JKPeV brings deep expertise in sustainable fashion education and a strong track record in designing and producing innovative, professionally designed educational materials and interactive training tools. The organisation excels in creating engaging and accessible learning experiences that combine creativity, digital innovation, and non-formal methods to motivate and empower learners.
JKPeV’s work focuses particularly on young people and adults with fewer opportunities, including marginalized groups, by enhancing their digital, creative, and professional skills. Through international projects, trainings, and workshops, JKPeV promotes inclusion, cultural diversity, and active European citizenship. Its experience spans a wide range of target groups ensuring that learning content is relevant, impactful, and adaptable to different needs and contexts.
With a special emphasis on sustainable fashion, JKPeV integrates environmental awareness and social responsibility into its educational approaches, fostering both knowledge and practical skills that inspire positive change in the fashion sector and beyond.
Universitat Politècnica de València
Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is a prominent public technological university in Spain, hosting nearly 30,000 students and employing over 4,000 teaching, research, and administrative staff. UPV has substantial experience in international cooperation and mobility, actively participating in Erasmus+ projects across all three Key Actions. Currently, UPV is involved in over 40 Erasmus+ initiatives as both partner and coordinator. The GIITEX group, consisting of professors specialized in textile-related degrees and Master’s programs, is dedicated to innovative teaching methods, including online courses and MOOCs, and plays a key role in developing the content for the Refashionized online course.

Kainotomia is a Center for Lifelong Learning in Greece specializing in Vocational Education and Training (VET). With over 60 ongoing vocational training programs, Kainotomia targets diverse groups to enhance their professional skills and support their integration and advancement in the labour market and society. The organisation also offers business consultancy services to companies and comprehensive support to trainees, facilitating their (re)entry into employment.
Kainotomia has developed notable expertise in sustainable fashion through implementing practical workshops on sewing, fashion design, and eco-friendly production techniques. These hands-on activities foster creativity, technical skills, and environmental awareness among participants, promoting sustainable practices within the fashion sector. As a member of the Association of Thessalian Enterprises and Industries and a collaborator with the Enterprise Europe Network-Hellas, Kainotomia combines local industry insights with European networking to strengthen its impact in vocational training and sustainable development.
Lottozero
Lottozero is an international center for textile design, art, and culture based in the historic Prato textile district, Italy. Operating as both a consultancy studio and a creative hub, it offers a gallery/exhibition space, shared studio and coworking areas, and a fully equipped textile lab for production, experimentation, and research. Since becoming fully active in 2017, Lottozero’s dedicated team fosters a dynamic environment that supports creativity and innovation in textile and fashion design.
Lottozero is deeply embedded in the Prato textile district, leveraging its unique proximity to traditional textile production companies to drive sustainable fashion innovation. The organization facilitates meaningful exchanges between young, talented European designers and established manufacturers, enabling designers to realize their creative visions with technical expertise while promoting environmentally conscious and innovative textile practices. This close collaboration strengthens sustainable development in fashion by merging craftsmanship with cutting-edge design and responsible production methods.
Catwalk Project
Catwalk Project is an innovative educational organisation based in Thessaloniki, founded in 2015, dedicated to fashion and fashion design education for children and teenagers aged 4 to 18. Serving as a creative hub, Catwalk offers a diverse curriculum that includes art history, fashion illustration, recycling and circular economy, textiles, and costume history, complemented by practical workshops in pattern making and sewing.
The Catwalk education program emphasizes experiential and inclusive learning, guiding students through the history and evolution of clothing while fostering creativity, confidence, and sustainability awareness. Students receive age-appropriate theoretical materials developed by expert instructors, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of fashion’s cultural and environmental impact. Committed to social responsibility, Catwalk actively participates in community events and fundraising activities that promote creativity and sustainability among young learners.
